My 2019 Goals

The 2018 wedding season is coming to an end and as I reflect on this year, I’m also making goals for next year. I believe it’s so important to head into a new year with new goals. I have many goals for 2019, both personal and professional, and I want to share some of my professional goals with you.

First, I want to further my photography education. I love to learn, and I believe that we never truly know everything- even pros can always learn more. I plan to do this by attending workshops, webinars, and second shooting for other photographers. Although I love being the primary photographer, I also enjoy being a second. It gives me the chance to work alongside some amazing photographers and even learn from them along the way.

Another goal I have is to refine my off-camera flash abilities. Again, I feel like improvements can always be made. This is just one ability that I would like to focus on in 2019. There are so many great things you can do with a flash and I plan to expand my knowledge in order to better my work.

I would also like to enhance my client experience EVEN FURTHER. My clients mean so much to me. I’ve said it before and I’m sure I’ll say it again, but I love making friends with my them. I am very much a friendship type photographer. I’m able to live my dream because of my clients, so I feel it’s super important to give them the best experience. I live by the quote, “They’ll forget what you said and what you did, but they will never forget how you made them feel.”

The last goal I will share with you is to make more friends in the wedding industry! This could be photographers, florists, coordinators, it doesn’t matter. Being an entrepreneur can be lonely at times as you’re mostly working at a computer screen. My main interaction with other humans in person is with my 9-month-old son! I would really like to find a group of people that can be my creative tribe.

If you’ve made it this far, thanks so much for reading! I encourage you to make some goals for the upcoming year as well and stick to them. Now I have a bunch of people that can help hold me accountable.
