I posted a FAQ blog post a couple years ago, but since it’s a new year and my business has grown since then, I wanted to post another one with updated information! Below you will find the top ten questions that couples ask me. These are all great questions and I encourage you to ask your wedding photographer these before you book with them.
1. Do you have my date available?
This is the most common question because it is obviously the most important one! I book 18 months out and recommend you to hire your favorite vendors as soon as possible. We book up fast and you may miss out if you wait. All my dates are on a first come, first serve basis. If you have a backup date, always ask if I’m available for that as well!
2. Can you work with a videographer?
This question makes me sad because I feel like there is so much photographer vs videographer out there that couples are even catching on to it. YES, I can work with a videographer and any good photographer should be able to. We are both there to serve our couples well and we are essentially doing the same job! It’s all about communication and making sure we are working together for the best outcome for our clients.
3. What do you wear?
I am a business casual gal! In the summer, I typically wear dresses and comfortable shoes and in the colder months, I wear black pants and a nice top. I believe a comfortable photographer is a good photographer so I try to make sure I look nice while still wearing something that I can work in.
4. Do you have backup gear?
I have a backup camera and a backup off camera flash. Both my cameras have dual slots for SD cards, so I’ll have two SD cards of the same images in case one malfunctions. I also have extra batteries for all my gear and extra SD cards! Knock on wood, I’ve never had an issue, but I like to be prepared just in case.
5. Do you have a second photographer?
I offer a second photographer with all of my wedding collections. If a couple wants to customize their collection and remove the second photographer, they can, but I don’t recommend doing so. A second photographer allows the wedding day to run a bit smoother and takes some stress off of me. You also get more photos!
6. Do we need to feed you both?
YES PLEASE! Not only do I love food, but I literally have to have it in order to do my job well. No one likes a hangry photographer. I do require a hot meal and a 30 minute break for dinner.
7. What is your shooting style?
I base my shooting style off of my couples. Some couples don’t like an hour portrait session and that’s okay. Some want a bunch of portraits and don’t enjoy candid images and that’s okay too. My philosophy is that it’s YOUR big day, not mine. It’s completely based off of you. I am really laid back when it comes to shooting. I want you to feel comfortable in front of the camera and to look back and remember how much fun you had!
8. How do we book you?
I require a signed contract and a 30% non refundable retainer in order to book. Again, dates are booked on a first come, first serve basis. I cannot hold any date unless I have a signed contract and paid deposit.
9. What is your client experience like?
Client experience is extremely important to me and it should be to you as well! I like to follow my clients on social media and periodically check in with them to make sure planning is going well. I always give my cell phone number so they can reach me with any questions that may come up. I also help my couples with timeline planning and anything else they may need!
10. When will I receive my photos?
You will receive your photos via online gallery 8 weeks after your wedding day! All my collections come with an engraved USB and a keepsake box. 60 days after the delivery of your photos, the gallery will close. But the USB is how you keep your photos forever. I believe once you’re a client, you’re always a client. So if you lose or damage your USB, you can always order a new one from me. I keep your photos forever! Same goes if you would like to order high quality prints or albums later down the road.
Booking your wedding photographer is really important. I recommend asking potential vendors any questions you may have about them and the services they offer. As always, you can email me at chloehorvathphotography@gmail.com if you’d like to inquire about your wedding date or if you have any questions that weren't covered here.
